Our privacy commitment
Environmental TAX Advisory is responsible for personal information under its control when it operates NorthLedger Tax Advisory and responds to Personal Tax Change Review requests. We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards and limit collection to information that is relevant to the purposes described in this policy. For Canadian commercial activity, our practices are designed with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable substantially similar provincial private-sector privacy laws in mind.
Submitting a review request does not require you to provide a Social Insurance Number, copies of a tax return, banking credentials, investment-account passwords or government-login information. We ask that you do not send those categories of information through the website form.
Personal information we collect
When you submit the Personal Tax Change Review form, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, province or territory and the broad tax topic you select. If you contact us separately, we may also receive the content of your correspondence and any information you choose to include in it. We may collect technical information such as browser type, device characteristics, IP address, approximate region, referral source, page interactions and cookie choices when those technologies are enabled.
We do not need detailed tax-return line items to provide an initial issue-mapping response. If a later interaction requires additional information, the purpose of the request should be explained before that information is collected.
Why we use personal information
We use contact and intake information to respond to a review request, understand which current Canadian tax topics may be relevant, maintain a record of communications, protect the service from abuse and meet legal or regulatory obligations. We may also use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how visitors use the article and which topics generate the most interest.
Marketing communications are handled separately from a review request. Where Canadian anti-spam rules require consent for a commercial electronic message, we rely on an applicable form of consent and include the required identification and unsubscribe information. A request for a Personal Tax Change Review is not automatically treated as unlimited consent to receive unrelated promotional messages.
Consent and choice
We seek meaningful consent appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the purpose for which it will be used. Necessary site functions can operate without optional analytics or marketing cookies. Where the cookie banner is presented, you may accept optional categories or use the settings control to make a more granular choice.
You may withdraw consent to optional uses where withdrawal is legally available. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawfully completed before the change, and some information may need to be retained where required for legal, security or record-keeping reasons.
Disclosure to service providers
We may use service providers for hosting, security, analytics, communications, advertising measurement and administrative support. A provider may process limited personal information on our behalf, subject to contractual or other safeguards appropriate to its role. Personal information may be processed outside Canada, including in jurisdictions where it may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement bodies or national-security authorities under local law.
We do not sell personal information as a standalone product. We do not provide tax-intake information to unrelated third parties for their independent use without an applicable legal basis and appropriate notice or consent.
Retention
We retain review-request information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain business and compliance records, handle disputes and protect the integrity of the service. Retention periods can vary by record type. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize or securely dispose of it.
Safeguards and accuracy
Safeguards are proportionate to the sensitivity and volume of the information involved. Measures may include access controls, secure transmission, restricted internal access, service-provider due diligence and procedures for handling suspected privacy incidents. No method of transmission or storage can eliminate all risk, so visitors should avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive tax or financial information.
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information used for an active request accurate enough for its purpose. You can ask us to correct information that is incomplete or inaccurate.
Your access and privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask for corrections. Depending on your province or territory and the law that applies to the information, additional rights or complaint mechanisms may be available. We may need to verify identity before completing an access or correction request.

Cookies and advertising technologies
Necessary cookies can be used to remember privacy choices and support core functions. Optional analytics cookies can help us understand aggregate traffic and engagement. Marketing cookies or similar technologies can support attribution and advertising measurement. More detail about categories, purposes, retention and third-party involvement is provided in our Cookie Policy.
Children
The Personal Tax Change Review is intended for adults managing Canadian tax matters. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children through this service.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy when our practices, service providers or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of the policy indicates the current version. Material changes will be reflected in the published policy before or when they take effect, as appropriate.
